The Tea Party Movement Should Stand Alone

February 19, 2010

It persists that politicians are clueless about the Tea Party Movement. The TPM is a grassroots effort to bring attention back to the American people that we have a Constitution, that our Federal Government has overstepped its bounds on Constitutional powers granted it by that Constitution and that spending is out of control. Nowhere in that movement is it defined as Democrat or Republican, black or white, male or female, Catholic or Protestant.

The TPM has become a powerful force. Why? Because it is of the people and by the people. Because of the TPM business as usual in the political sphere got upended. We saw that in Virginia and New Jersey. When Scott Brown got elected to the Senate seat in Massachusetts, that is when it become clear to me that Republicans didn’t know what the Tea Party Movement was about either. Read more

Who Plays With Your Freedom

February 16, 2010

I do believe that far too many Americans are suffering from a case of not knowing what you’ve got until it’s gone. Freedom is one of those rights granted us by God not by man but some are insistent to take that freedom away from you and I in order to bolster their own struggle for power. Self seeking power hucksters are so bedazzled by their own self importance they fail to see the ultimate destruction they will bring upon a free society including themselves.

Thomas Sowell says that politics and politicians are “Playing Freedom Cheap“. Read more

Proposed Soda Taxes Fall Flat, Says Black Activist, Calls Demonization of Carbonated Beverages Yet Another Progressive Attack on Liberty

February 10, 2010

Washington, DC: Proposed soda taxes fall flat, according to Deneen Borelli, a fellow with the Project 21 black leadership network, who says the demonization of carbonated beverages is just another example of the progressive attack on liberty.

“After the Obama Administration tried to put itself between me and my doctor with its health care plan, the White House – along with Governor David Paterson and Mayor Gavin Newsom – now want to come between me and my can of soda,” said Borelli.

“Raising taxes during hard economic times is a horrible idea and it’s doomed to failure,” added Borelli. “Elected officials should be focused on lowering taxes to getting our economy growing in order to stimulate job growth. Instead you have Mayor Newsom in San Francisco and Governor Paterson in New York using the ‘obesity card’ to make up for their budget shortfalls. Read more

America Rising An Open Letter to Democrat Politicians

January 11, 2010

For me, this would be better titled, “America Rising: An Open Letter to ALL Politicians”. We must be reminded as we stumble along heading toward November 2, 2010, that it’s not just Democrats that threaten out liberty, that seek more government and government control. It is a scourge that has corrupted Washington and yet they think they are right. No more. We must take our country back. Question the motives of every politician.

Centenarian Told to Wait 18 Months to Get Hearing Aid

December 4, 2009

This is one of the 100 stories told in the new book, “Shattered Lives: 100 Victims of Government Health Care“, published by the National Center for Public Policy Research and written by Amy Ridenour and Ryan Balis. It is republished here with permission.

Longevity apparently does not count for much in Britain’s government-managed National Health Service.

Much of 108-year-old Olive Beal’s hearing was gone. The one-time suffragette and former piano teacher from Kent, England was unable to enjoy music or hear conversations clearly with her five-year-old analog hearing aid. A modern digital device would improve Beal’s hearing – and life – tremendously, but she was having difficulty receiving a replacement.

Beal’s granddaughter, Maria Scott, explained: “Her analog hearing aid does not filter out background noise so it makes it very difficult for her to hear clearly. But the digital one would allow her to hear people talking to her and to CDs. She loves music hall numbers.” Read more

Engineer Left Blind for Three Years Awaiting 20-Minute Operation

December 3, 2009

This is another story republished with permission from the book, “Shattered Lives: 100 Victims of Government Health Care” published by the National Center for Public Policy Research and written by Amy Ridenour and Ryan Balis.

According to Britain’s state-managed health service, cataract surgery is a “common” and “straightforward” operation that usually should last between 15 and 20 minutes. But such a quick turnaround would have been news to Richard Adams of London, who went blind in both eyes while waiting three years for cataract surgery.

The 85-year-old retired engineer and award-winning dancer began losing his vision in 2004. That year, doctors diagnosed Adams with cataracts, but an operation to remove them was not scheduled until March 2007. Read more

No Free Lunch: The True Cost of ObamaCare Report Released

October 23, 2009

Washington D.C.: Far from providing “affordable” care for everyone, ObamaCare would result in higher insurance premiums, more and higher taxes, fewer jobs, lower wages, a reduced standard of living and an erosion of privacy and individual liberty.

This is the conclusion of a new report, “No Free Lunch: The True Cost of ObamaCare,” by policy analyst Matt Patterson just released by the National Center for Public Policy Research.

“Instead of providing ‘affordable’ health care for everybody, ObamaCare will in fact lead to dramatically higher health insurance premiums, as well as higher taxes, reduced Medicare benefits, lower wages, and fewer jobs for low and middle-income Americans,” said Patterson. Read more

Singing Praises To Obama

September 24, 2009

One of the arguments being used in defense of this video is that many songs have been sung in the past by school children about their president or some other leader. Is this true? Did I live a sheltered life? I am only 57 years old but I don’t recall ever singing any songs like that. I remember singing Yankee Doodle Dandy, America the Beautiful, My Country Tis of Thee, Star Spangled Banner, and similar patriotic songs. Can someone weigh in here with more specifics on what “other” songs kids learned to sing about their leaders?
