Idaho Elk Industry Wants Clarification Of Support From Safari Club International
May 22, 2009
Since 2006 I have spent countless hours researching and writing, seeking the truth behind efforts in Idaho to destroy a perfectly good domestic elk industry. The effort is ongoing and very unfortunate.
There have been two issues used by those determined to end raising elk for livestock – high-fence hunting and disease. One thing is for sure. There is never a resolve when a discussion comes up about fair chase and hunting ethics. There are those who have determined that hunting inside a fenced-in area, regardless of its size, is wrong and violates their standards of fair chase hunting ethics. On the other side, there are those who take no issue with it, whether they do it themselves or not. Is this reason to destroy an industry? Some think so.
Disease is the second issue. In Idaho’s case, it’s really a non issue because in the 20 years the domestic elk industry has been in existence, there has never been a diseased animal. Guidelines are stringent as well as testing and the practices employed seem to have an incredible track record. Read more
Marshall Sage: Government Control by “Eliminating The Sovereignty Of The States”
May 14, 2009
The following is a guest article. I asked Marshall Sage for permission to publish his response to a discussion on state sovereignty and the decimation of the United States Constitution by progressives.
Marshall Sage is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel who has enjoyed the freedom to hunt and fish throughout much of the free world. Most recently radio host for “Outdoor Life” a hunting and fishing program in Southwestern Idaho. A life member of SCI and the NRA. Contact at msage22@gmail.com.
Our founding fathers gave our nation a blueprint on how to avoid a centralized, authoritarian government from taking away our individual freedoms (endowed by our Creator) and rights (Bill of Rights). This blueprint was our Constitution. It’s no accident that in less than 200 years of following this blueprint the United States of America became the most prosperous and industrious nation on earth. America The Great – Now Let’s Take It To Hell
May 5, 2009
I’m beginning to learn why I struggle more and more each day to fit into America’s new society. It’s simple really. The America I grew up in is long gone. History is not taught anymore. The Constitution is nothing more than toilet paper and our current president says the U.S. isn’t and never was a Christian nation.
See ya’ll later!
Here’s what disturbs me most and there’s nothing I can do about it, yet I refuse to be a part of it because I know it is wrong. I feel sorry for those who know not the difference. The majority of our society today finds socialism acceptable. They find loss of liberty acceptable. They find decadence and immorality just a part of modern day living, progress, part of the living liberalism. All of this and more has led people to say that those of us who cling to what we know is right and what made America great – the land of the free and home of the brave – are out of touch. We need to get with it and change our value system and join in the fun. Read more
Sun Valley, ID Mayor Wants To Protect $2.7 B Valuation From Wolves
April 8, 2009
From reports I’ve gotten about a recent meeting in Hailey, Idaho about wolves, perhaps the tide is beginning to turn in favor of once and for all forcing the hand of the federal government to let the people of that state and others take care of the gray wolves the feds dumped in their back yards over 14 years ago.
I wasn’t at that meeting but one report I have says as many as 350 were in attendance and the estimate was that 99.9% were there hoping to see wolves managed properly by the state before more damage is done by expanding wolf packs. Read more
Endangered Species Act Forces Loss Of 37,000 Jobs
April 5, 2009
Is this what the sponsors of the Endangered Species Act had in mind when they wanted to make sure we didn’t needlessly wipe out another animal or plant species?

‘Kangaroo-Court’ Hearing a One-Sided View of California Drought
March 31, 2009
Regulations Making Water Shortage Worse
Washington, D.C. – The U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources is holding a one-sided hearing this morning on the California drought that is expected to blame climate change for a critical water shortage while glossing over the role of activist-inspired environmental policies in exacerbating the shortage, according to The National Center for Public Policy Research.
The hearing, entitled “The California Drought: Actions by Federal and State Agencies to Address Impacts on Lands, Fisheries, and Water Users,” will be held today, March 31, at 10:30 am in Room 1324, Longworth House Office Building. Read more
Maine’s Anti Game Farm Bill, LD560, Dead
March 30, 2009
A bill in Maine that would have put an end to all game farms, including a handful that offer shooting opportunities, got killed in committee by a 12-0 vote – the vote for “ought not to pass”. Under Maine rules, a unanimous vote effectively kills the bill.
One member of the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee, Chairwoman Rep. Wendy Pieh, D-Bremen, was quoted as saying the following: Read more
Environmentalism Will Put Us “Peons” In The Poor House
March 18, 2009
It seems all I’ve done today is read about everything that we once said could never happen in America, happening! God, I hope it ends soon.
I’m not going to elaborate on this article, only to say it is worth the read, if you have an open mind. It’s another, “It will never happen in America” moment but it is reality – the direction our country is headed.

Wild and Dirty Politics Threaten Forests and the Constitution
March 17, 2009
As we surmised if not predicted [here], the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009 is not dead. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid allegedly intends to attach it to H.R. 146, “The Revolutionary War and War of 1812 Battlefield Protection Act.”
The Omnibus Public Lands Bill was defeated in the House March 11 under emergency rules that require a two-thirds majority vote. Normal rules were suspended because nearly 100 of the bills in the 1,200-page package have never passed or have had a hearing in the House.
H.R. 146 has passed the House. Hence by attaching nearly 100 unconsidered bills to it, Dirty Harry and the corrupt Senate play the sham trick of bypassing the House of Representatives entirely. Should H.R. 146 pass the Senate laden with the Omnibus Public Land Management Act, the House will never hold a hearing on it. Instead, a conference committee will “resolve” the differences between the House and Senate versions of HR 146, and a simple majority vote will be all that is required to pass the conference report.<<<Read more>>>
$5 Per Gallon Gasoline! Reason: Endangered Species Act
March 16, 2009
That shouldn’t make a lick of sense unless of course scientists were to discover some rare and endangered species living deep beneath the earth where oil and natural gas reserves lie. But this is what has become of our beloved Endangered Species Act, a legal document devised in 1973 that was intended to help prevent the man-made destruction of animal and plant life.
Last year the Bush administration decided to list the polar bear as a species that is threatened – meaning that there is a possibility that if we don’t pay close attention to this animal, certain circumstances could put the bear in danger of going extinct. We don’t want that but was it necessary?
I guess it depends on whose science we opt to use and how much politicking comes into play. It appears that the Bush administration attempted to play politics instead of opting for science and fighting the battle based on that. Read more
Montana’s Wolf Recovery Act: An Exercise In “We The People”?
March 9, 2009
I’m sure the majority of Americans know absolutely nothing of Montana Senate Bill 183, the Short Title being, “Montana Wolf Recovery Act”. As I understand the proceedings, the bill is up for second reading in Committee as small items get tweaked.
The Montana Wolf Recovery Act may be a preview of more of what is to come in this country as more and more people are becoming completely fed up with the shenanigans that go on in Washington and the takeover of environmentalism. Just today I posted a YouTube video of a reporter in the U.S. Senate building asking Senator Charlie Rangel to explain his current tax cheating, among other things. His response, “Why don’t you might your own god damn business!” It’s this sort of tyranny that is beginning to get to the people. It’s supposed to be “We the people” not mind your own god damn business. Read more
Senate Votes For Polar Bear To Control Economic Growth
March 9, 2009
When you read a headline like that, you have to say, “What the heck does that mean?” I’ll tell you what it might mean and then you can decide for yourself.
Remember when the Bush administration, including Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne, last year decided, in what I perceived as an ignorant move, to place the polar bear as a “threatened” species under the Endangered Species Act? In so doing, the government essentially agreed with the environmental extremists and global warming alarmists that polar bears are at risk because of man-made global warming.
The next stupid thing the Bush administration did was make an attempt at changing the rules in the middle of the game. How childish is that? Read more
