Black Conservatives Speak Out on Obama’s State of the Union Address
January 26, 2011
Washington, D.C. – With the completion of President Obama’s second State of the Union Address, members of the Project 21 black leadership network are assessing the President’s rhetoric before Congress and the direction in which he wants to take the nation:
Mychal Massie: “Has Obama had an epiphany, or is he still dazed from his shellacking from the American people in the November elections? From the beginning, he was a free-spending Keynesian. Now he’s talking about capping spending and ending earmarks. It’s inconsistent with his advocacy thus far. It’s too much like when Bill Clinton declared that the ‘era of big government’ was over back in his 1996 address. Changing the language without changing the behavior is nothing more than obfuscation, and would signal that the only one Obama seeks to benefit is himself.” (Mychal Massie is the chairman of the Project 21 black leadership network.) Do We Fear Exceptionalism?
May 21, 2010
Where it began, I don’t know. Perhaps we can’t even put a finger on it. Somewhere between here and there America has lost her exceptionalism. Being exceptional sets something or someone apart from all others. Dare we utter the fact that were it not for exceptional people America would not exist today? Why have we grown to fear being exceptional? Why do we now see such blessings from God as amiss?
I’m sure it began long before our obsession with self-esteem. So consumed we became with making sure our kids’ feelings were never hurt, we lost all reason and understanding and began teaching that exceptionalism wasn’t “fair”. (Oh, there’s the four-letter word that should be banned.) Read more
Survival And Survival Skills – A Video Invitation
March 26, 2010
Things are tough economically for many people. Will it get worse? We don’t know, so why not be prepared. At my blog, the Black Bear Blog, I’ve began a new feature where I will provide expert advice on how to be independent and survive tough times – how to cook, grow your own food, preserve food, build shelter, kindle a fire, self protection, living off the land, etc.
Don’t be one to laugh at those of us who would like to be prepared, why not join in the fun and learn how to be independent. As much as I don’t want it to come to that but what you learn here could save you and your family’s life.

Score Socialism With An “F”
August 17, 2009

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama’s socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama’s plan”. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A. Read more
Conservative Black Group Challenges Liberal Urban League’s “State of Black America 2009″ Report
March 27, 2009
“Harmful Recommendations,” “Dreary” Tone Among Criticisms
Washington, D.C. – This year’s edition of the liberal National Urban League’s annual State of Black America report fails to effectively challenge the Obama Administration, is unnecessarily dreary and makes recommendations that would be harmful, say members of the conservative Project 21 black leadership group.
“It is long past time that groups such the National Urban League should be given a pass as they blame poor personal decisions, lack of personal preparation and the realities of life on a phantom bogeyman of conspiratorial dictates designed to impede black progress,” said Project 21 Chairman Mychal Massie. “If they are going to point fingers, they should not exclude pointing fingers at themselves. They cannot claim 100 years of making a difference in the lives of blacks while simultaneously claiming that blacks aren’t succeeding as quickly as every other group of Americans.” Read more
Back on Uncle Sam’s Plantation
March 27, 2009
By Star Parker
Six years ago I wrote a book called “Uncle Sam’s Plantation.” I wrote the book to tell my own story of what I saw living inside the welfare state and my own transformation out of it.
I said in that book that indeed there are two Americas. A poor America on socialism and a wealthy America on capitalism.
I talked about government programs like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training (JOBS), Emergency Assistance to Needy Families with Children (EANF), Section 8 Housing, and Food Stamps. <<< read the rest of the story >>>
The “Dumbing Down” of America Continues
January 19, 2006
Yeah, it’s everywhere. In Pinellas Country, Florida last night it was announced that the school department there will be doing away with the recoginition of a valedictorian in any of the high schools in that country. The reason given was it puts too much pressure on the students and causes tremendous stress. Yeah, right! One principal was quoted as saying that when she has to carry the GPA of each student out to four decimal places….. Well, that’s absolutely ridiculous she said. So let’s get rid of decimals. Who needs them anyway?
So what will they do instead? They think a broader recognition of achievement would be a fairer way to go. That way they can honor more students for sitting on their butts and doing absolutely nothing.
I can see it now. I walk into the office at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California and the dean says to my newly graduated high schooler, “So, it says here on your school documents you tied for first place in your graduating class. That is good. Tell me about it.”
“I shared that recognition with the other 566 kids in my class.”
I’ll have more on the details of this event as the story unfolds.
