Are Our Courtrooms Deciding How We Will Manage Our Wildlife?
May 27, 2010

The memorandum, which can be downloaded in its entirety with this link, shares data that readily explains how the Endangered Species Act isn’t about saving species. Instead it has been manipulated, which most honest people have come to realize, in order to use taxpayer money to make some environmental groups and individuals quite wealthy. Read more

Do We Fear Exceptionalism?
May 21, 2010
Where it began, I don’t know. Perhaps we can’t even put a finger on it. Somewhere between here and there America has lost her exceptionalism. Being exceptional sets something or someone apart from all others. Dare we utter the fact that were it not for exceptional people America would not exist today? Why have we grown to fear being exceptional? Why do we now see such blessings from God as amiss?
I’m sure it began long before our obsession with self-esteem. So consumed we became with making sure our kids’ feelings were never hurt, we lost all reason and understanding and began teaching that exceptionalism wasn’t “fair”. (Oh, there’s the four-letter word that should be banned.) Read more
Leslie B. Otten – Candidate For Maine Governor
May 20, 2010

Les wanted to know if I was interested in building on an addition to one of his ski lodges. We walked around the building and peered under a deck where the addition would go, both of us raising several questions about the existing structure. Soon, with Les in his work clothes (dress slacks and dress shirt) and I in mine (grubs), we were both crawling on our bellies through the dust, gravel, weeds, debris and just about everything else one might have the pleasure of finding under a heavily traveled ski lodge deck. I did make a couple of comments about our adventure but I’ll refrain from posting them here. Read more
Cass Sunstein And His Internet Mandates
May 19, 2010
Because you are stupid, Cass Sunstein, Obama’s Regulatory Czar, thinks you don’t know how to use the Internet for reading, gathering information and disseminating it.
Picture this if you will. One day you sit down to your computer and log onto your favorite website. That of course would be the Black Bear Blog. There you find a story about 300 scientists who have gathered in Chicago to discuss the prospects of global cooling, update everyone on the fallout from Climategate and provide the best available science about our changing climate. In the middle of your reading, this annoying bubble keeps popping up trying to tell you that if you go over to the website Climate Debate Daily, you’ll get an opposing view. Read more
California Federal Judge Issues First Ruling On Southern Cal. Water Shutoffs
May 19, 2010
Judge Oliver Wanger issued a ruling concerning the Fed’s insistence that water be shut off to citizens in the Central and Southern California area in order to provide enough water for fish, claiming authority under the Endangered Species Act.
Brandon Middleton, lawyer for Pacific Legal Foundation, a property rights advocate, had this to say about Judge Wanger’s ruling. Read more
After I Make Enough Money, I’ll Give The Rest Away!
May 18, 2010
Barack Obama recently said that “at some point you have made enough money”. Who says? Obviously one man with an over inflated ego and a bent on the destruction of capitalism and “trickle down” wealth. Regardless of whether you or I think someone else has made enough money, why should a third party get to decide?
It angers me to no end when I hear friends and relatives sitting around bemoaning someone’s wealth. I don’t get it. Is this because of jealousy, resentment, disrespect or what? And of course in these flip conversations comes out the profound that anyone who made money did so by screwing their friends and neighbors. We know this is not true. (Exceptions to everything, so give it a rest.) Read more
FCC Goes For Nuclear Option – Seeks To Control Interent
May 17, 2010
If FCC Chairman Genachowski announces his intention to reclassify the Internet as a telephone system, he will be reversing 30 years of precedent
By Phil Kerpen – FOXNews.com
As I have repeatedly warned and noted on www.ObamaChart.com, when Congress blocks the Obama administration, the White House always finds a way to get around the normal policy-making process and pursue its agenda by other means. Today’s reclassification assault on the Internet is the latest-and perhaps the most egregious-example.
In its effort to imposing crippling net neutrality regulations on the Internet-an idea with very little support from the American public or Congress-the Obama administration first turned to the FCC simply to pretend Congress has given it authority to regulate. <<<Read the Rest>>>
Sorry, No Racist Here
May 17, 2010
I rarely post political stuff on this blog, unless it directly affects hunting and fishing. I believe illegal immigration fits that bill. As many of you know, for a couple of years now, the maps found in the Game and Fish Regulations indicate a “zone” along the border, with a statement that “Homeland security issues along the international border may affect the quality of a person’s hunt”. Following the passage of SB1070, I was deeply offended to be branded a racist for supporting this law. A drastically shorter version of the following editorial is scheduled to appear in Wednesday’s edition of the Arizona Republic (Mesa edition) ~Desert Rat

The Struggle To Define Tea Party Continues
May 14, 2010
Examine the photo shown below and then tell yourself or anyone near you what you see. Well, what do you see? Do you see a black box or do you see something else? My son told me once that in a writing class he took in college, the professor said a good writer could look at a tree and write endlessly. Is the same true for this black box? Read more
Obama’s Radical Pick To Run Medicare/Medicaid
May 14, 2010
“Any health care funding plan that is just, equitable, civilized and humane must, must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent health care is by definition redistributional. Britain, you chose well.”
Here’s that video:
