Is Obama Blatantly Manipulating The Courts With His Selection Of Sotomayor?

May 29, 2009

It would be naive to think that no president ever considered his appointments to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court as a way to help protect or promote his ideals. How far is a president willing to go to intentionally attempt to manipulate the system in order to achieve personal agendas?

When Senator Barack Hussein Obama was a candidate for president of the United States, I spent a great deal of time writing about his history when it comes to Second Amendment issues. This also included multiple articles on the most prominent Second Amendment case the Supreme Court ruled on in recent history – District of Columbia vs. Heller. Read more

Black Leader Calls for Special Counsel to Investigate Possible Voting Rights Corruption at Justice Department

May 29, 2009

Political Appointees Said to Overrule Career Staff in Election Intimidation Case

Washington DC: In light of a Washington Times report today that political appointees at the U.S. Department of Justice forced career prosecutors to drop and/or reduce charges against men observed intimidating Philadelphia voters last election day, Project 21 Chairman Mychal Massie is calling for the appointment of a special counsel to investigate this alleged obstruction of the Voting Rights Act by the Obama Administration.

“From all accounts, this was a clear-cut violation of peoples’ right to vote without fear and intimidation, but the Obama Administration appears to be trying to sweep it under the rug,” said Massie. “After all of the allegations about the Bush Administration politicizing the Justice Department, this smacks of either extreme ignorance or extreme hubris on the part of their successors. Whatever the case, an independent investigation is needed to get to the bottom of what’s going on over there.” Read more

Is Striving For Another Racial And Ethnic Record Endangering Our Being?

May 28, 2009

Political correctness is nothing more than censorship. It puts restrictions on what we can and cannot do and say. Many believe in our attempt to be politically correct we have taken it to an extreme. My question today is this. Have we taken it to such an extreme we are putting ourselves, our culture, our strength and ability to survive as the greatest nation on earth at risk?

I mostly began asking myself this question during the 2008 presidential campaign when I heard over and over, that we needed to elect our first black person to be president of the United States as well maybe the first female president. I have no problem with that and I hope you don’t either. But did we elect our first black person president for that reason only? Probably not but intelligent thought can tell us that it is likely that a certain number of voters cast their ballots only because Barack Obama is considered black. Read more

Ladyslipper Flowers: A Rare Find

May 27, 2009

One of the most spectacular events in the spring in Maine is when the ladyslippers, a rare and protected species, make their annual return. Many are pink in color as shown in the below photograph. White is a bit more rare to find and if you can locate some in yellow, you’ve struck gold.

Safari Club International Does Not Support Idaho Elk Industry Destruction

May 27, 2009

Last week I reported that the Idaho Elk Breeders Association was requesting from Safari Club International clarification as to whether they supported the efforts of Mark Bell, a representative of the Idaho Sportsmen’s Caucus Advisory Council, to destroy the state’s domestic elk industry.

Bell and others have been on a bent for several years now to put an end to the Idaho domestic elk industry, so far with little success. Kristy Sternes, president of the Idaho Elk Breeders Association, sent a letter to representatives of Safari Club International asking them to verify if they supported Mark Bell and his efforts. Sternes asserted that when Bell made public appearances aimed at garnering support to abolish the elk industry, he used their name claiming their support. Read more

Black Leader Urges Senate Scrutiny for Sotomayor Supreme Court Nomination

May 27, 2009

No Rubber Stamp for Controversial Nominee

With President Obama’s nomination of U.S. Circuit Court judge Sonia Sotomayor to the vacancy being created by U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter’s impending retirement, Mychal Massie, chairman of the Project 21 black leadership network, is urging senators to take a very close look at her record before commenting on her fitness for the job.

“Of all the possible nominees suggested over the past few weeks, it appears Obama selected the most radical one,” said Massie. “The U.S. Senate has the duty to scrutinize Judge Sotomayor’s record to ensure she has the demeanor and aptitude to be elevated to such a solemn post.” Read more

Don’t Think For One Minute Obama And His Regime Doesn’t Want Your Guns

May 26, 2009

A Washington Times article today seemed a bit boastful that gun rights advocates were winning the battle against gun control freaks even though Congress is completely controlled by the left. But as supporters of the Second Amendment we shouldn’t be hasty in thinking we have an upper hand. It is only temporary, if we have any power to claim at all.

Obama and his administration want your guns. Make no mistake about it and they will get them one way or another. There is one major deterrent to any politician running for office – the quickest way to lose an election is to be vocal about wanting gun control. Al Gore and John Kerry were latest victims of such ignorance. Read more

Obama Says There’s A More Effective Way To Interrogate Prisoners

May 26, 2009

In President Barack Obama’s comments recently about Guantanamo prisoners, he made the following statement:
I know some have argued that brutal methods like water-boarding were necessary to keep us safe. I could not disagree more. As Commander-in-Chief, I see the intelligence, I bear responsibility for keeping this country safe, and I reject the assertion that these are the most effective means of interrogation.

An intelligent individual can only assume that if someone says that waterboarding, the end results as claimed by former Vice President Dick Cheney that warded off other attacks and potentially saved hundreds of thousands of lives, is not the most effective way, then what is? Read more

Obama Picks Sotomayor As Souter Replacement On U.S. Supreme Court

May 26, 2009

sotomayer
Some speculated it would be this week that President Obama would make his selection of U.S. Supreme Court justice to replace retiring Justice Souter. Many feared it would be Sonia Sotomayor, a federal appeals court judge who has been recorded as openly and laughingly saying that judges create laws from the benches they serve from.

A Story For Memorial Day

May 24, 2009

I just wanted to get the day over with and go down to Smokey’s. Sneaking a look at my watch, I saw the time, 1655. Five minutes to go before the cemetery gates are closed for the day. Full dress was hot in the August sun. Oklahoma summertime was as bad as ever–the heat and humidity at the same level–both too high.

I saw the car pull into the drive, ‘69 or ‘70 model Cadillac Deville, looked factory-new. It pulled into the parking lot at a snail’s pace. An old woman got out so slow I thought she was paralyzed; she had a cane and a sheaf of flowers–about four or five bunches as best I could tell.

I couldn’t help myself. The thought came unwanted, and left a slightly bitter taste: ‘She’s going to spend an hour, and for this old soldier, my hip hurts like hell and I’m ready to get out of here right now!’ But for this day, my duty was to assist anyone coming in. Read more
