Sowell: Obama “Welshes On His Commitments”
April 28, 2009
Thomas Sowell takes President Barack Obama to task over his pandering to “mushy notions among the elite”, as well as “the shibboleths of political correctness”. Barack Obama has done more in 100 days in office to destroy centuries of foreign diplomacy, all from positions of strength by pandering to idiots like Hugo Chavez, bowing to Saudi heads of state and stabbing a knife in the backs of every veteran of the United States Armed Services by releasing terrorist prisoners so they can go kill more Americans.
There was a time when people who violated the rules of war were not entitled to turn around and claim the protection of those rules. German soldiers who put on U.S. military uniforms, in order to infiltrate American lines during the Battle of the Bulge, were simply lined up against a wall and shot.
Nobody even thought that this was a violation of the Geneva Convention. American authorities filmed the mass executions. Nobody dreamed up fictitious “rights” for these enemy combatants who had violated the rules of war. Nobody thought we had to prove that we were nicer than the Nazis by bending over backward.
Bending over backward is a very bad position from which to try to defend yourself. Nobody in those days confused bending over backward with “the rule of law,” as Barack Obama did recently. Bending over backward is the antithesis of the rule of law. It is depriving the people of the protection of their laws, in order to pander to mushy notions among the elite.
Obama is a radical fascist dictator who will not be happy until he completely controls every aspect of American life. He is anti-American in the sense that he cares not about the preservation of the America that thousands and thousands of heroic Americans have fought and died to protect. His hope and change he sold voters on is now beginning to show. It’s a hope and change to turn America into a spineless, third world entity in which this dictator can control.
