Very Strict Gun Laws In Germany Don’t Stop Killing Spree

March 12, 2009

Liberals and the media are always quick to point out here in the U.S. anytime a gun is used to commit a crime and usually it is followed by insisting that stricter laws be enacted in order to curb the violence. Yet, time and again, events show us that no matter how strict gun laws are, it has little or no affect on stopping gun crimes and may in fact add to it.

A recent shooting in a high school in Germany is an example. As tragic as the event was, some are quick to make statements that if Germany, which has some of the strictest gun laws around, had tougher laws this wouldn’t have happened.

From the Wall Street Journal:

A spokesman for the Association of German Police Detectives, Bernd Carstensen, said the killing spree reveals weaknesses in German laws restricting access to personal weapons. “Weapons should be locked and out of reach, but the law is not enforced,” Mr. Carstensen said.

No it doesn’t! It shows that this individual had a mental problem that didn’t get addressed. This person was intent on killing people. That’s the problem. Deal with it!
