Obama Picks Lisa Jackson To Head EPA

December 16, 2008

Former head of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and current chief of staff to New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, law-defying Lisa Jackson has been picked to head up the nation’s EPA under the Obama administration.

Jackson, one of the most anti-hunting heads of anyone overseeing fish and game, also has little respect for existing laws. Jackson was hand-picked to head New Jersey’s DEP by newly elected Jon Corzine, also an extremist against hunting. Read more

New ATI-News/Zogby Poll Finds 58 Percent of Union Members in the United States Oppose Big Three Bailout

December 9, 2008

Poll Also Finds 62 Percent of All Americans Against Bailout

Washington, D.C. – As Congress mulls whether or not to spend anywhere from $15 to $34 billion in taxpayer money to bailout Ford, General Motors and Chrysler, a new ATI-News/Zogby poll shows a clear majority of Americans, including union employees, oppose such a bailout.

The poll, which was conducted Nov. 25 through Dec.1 and has a margin of error of plus-or-minus two percentage points, asked likely voters:

“Congress is considering using tax dollars to give a total of $25 billion to the Big Three U.S. auto manufacturers, Ford, General Motors (GM) and Chrysler, in order to keep the companies solvent. Some believe they should go into bankruptcy so they can restructure to produce few models, have less dealers, allow them to close unnecessary manufacturing facilities, and have investors demand management changes and reduced benefits for all employees. Do you think Congress should approve or deny a bailout for the Big Three?” Read more

Interior Department Acted Correctly To Honor “Right To Carry” Firearm Laws In National Parks & Wildlife Refuges

December 6, 2008

Washington, D.C. – The following is U.S. Rep. Don Young’s (R-Alaska) statement on the Interior Departments decision to finalized updated regulations governing the possession of firearms in national parks and wildlife refuges.

The final rule, which updates existing regulations, would allow an individual to carry a concealed weapon in national parks and wildlife refuges if, and only if, the individual is authorized to carry a concealed weapon under state law in the state in which the national park or refuge is located.

Young is the Ranking Republican on the House Natural Resources Committee which has jurisdiction over national parks and wildlife refuges. Read more

When One Judge Dictates Wolf Management

December 2, 2008

I find it very unbelievable that one judge in the United States of America wields enough power to be able to dictate his own “science” in ruling on wolf management. This is the case as I see it. Judge Donald Molloy allowed a temporary injunction that returned the gray wolf to Endangered Species Act protection last July, 2008. He gave two reasons for doing so.

One, he disliked Wyoming’s Wolf Management Plan that had been approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. (Each of the three states, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana had to have USFWS approved plans before delisting could be considered.) Read more

India – An Unarmed Country Susceptible To Attack?

December 1, 2008

I find myself asking the same few questions again after watching the reports coming out of Mumbai, India and the tragedy of death due to terrorist attacks. Sometime after 9/11, I was having a discussion with my adult son about what would have been the differences on 9/11 had passengers aboard the airlines been allowed to exercise their Second Amendment rights and been armed? A complicated discussion to say the least but one that, in my opinion, deserves attention.

Now we are looking at India’s 9/11, the city of Mumbai seemingly all too easy for terrorists to mount an attack against innocent people. Once again I am asking two questions. What would have been different had the people of India been allowed armed self protection? And to go along with that question, how many people died in this attack because they were helplessly unarmed? Read more
