Women For President

February 17, 2006

The White House Project is an organization whose object is to promote women. Their motto scrolled across the top of the web page reads, “Advancing Women’s Leadership”.

The White House Project has announced its list of eight women who they say meets the standard to be seriously considered as viable candidates in 2008 for President of the United States. Here is that list and in no particular order.

Senator Susan Collins (R) – Maine

Senator Olympia Snowe (R) – Maine

Senator Hillary Clinton (D) New York

Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R) Texas

Mayor Shirley Franklin (D) Atlanta

Governor Janet Napolitano (D) Arizona

Governor Kathleen Sebelius (D) Kansas

Secretary of State Condolleeza Rice

If you are into this sort of thing, you can visit the web site and vote for your favorite.

Ms. Rice is the only name on that list I consider worthy of the presidency, and she has repeatedly said she has no intention of running. What a shame.

It should also be noted that Susan Collins has been warming up to John McCain lately, perhaps wrangling for a VP slot on his ticket? Puke!

I agree about CR. Snowe says she’s flattered by being on the list but never intends to run for President – thank God – and Collins will morph into whatever she thinks is going at the moment. I’m not sure who follows who closer, Leiberman or Collins.
Another hurling moment is if McCain gets the nod. Oh boy.

Got something to say?
