Restaurants on the Bleeding Edge

February 28, 2006

by Kenshin

I had the misfortune to suffer through two dinners worth of liberal food in a row. No longer content merely with ruining America, now liberals have gotten their morally reprehensible claws into your dinner.

Now wait a minute, you’re thinking—-food is an inanimate object (even barbecue, after you kill it). How can food have a political bent? Just what is liberal food, you ask?

Glad to tell you.

Liberal food combines ingredients that shouldn’t even exist within the same zip code, much less on the same plate. Onions and vanilla do not taste good together, but liberals insist on forcing concoctions like that upon the unsuspecting public. Some vegetables can be enjoyed raw. Take carrots, for instance. These good-for-raw-consumption vegetables, however, do not include asparagus and beets, unless you happen to be a bovine or a hippie.

Nor is chicken meant to be sashimi. Hello central, salmonella calling!

Years ago, at a posh place out in the Hamptons, I was served a chicken breast that was still trying to escape from the plate. The staff had stabbed it through the heart with a hefty stake of rosemary in a vain attempt to get it to lie there quietly and stop bleeding.

That should have been a warning to me.

See, what these leftist chefs and restaurateurs are saying through their “creations” is: Reality and tradition mean nothing to us (not to mention palates).

Coconut in salsa. Raw trout in ice cream. Horse’s hooves stuffed with mustard sorbet and swamp mud. These are just some of the other delicacies that litter the menu of liberal (sometimes also known as “hip” and “cutting edge”) restaurants.

So what they do then is attempt to disguise the food by presenting it in a “different” and “unusual” and “hip” and “cutting edge” manner. Just like every other foo-foo restaurant on the face of the planet.

They do this to disguise the fact that it tastes like crap, much in the same way that liberals attempt to disguise their crappy socialist political message by wrapping it up in pretty entitlement packages and calling it “Something other than the vile disease of socialism.”

That’s pretty much what they do with their food. When you need a paragraph to name a dish, you know you’re in one of Those restaurants.

Then they either stack it so high on the plate it needs clearance from ground control, or they bury things under other things, like hiding your raw asparagus under some squished peyote and a slab of semi-raw chicken.

And then they decorate it with an empty lobster shell.

And expect you to like it.

Not only like it, but approve of it via your wallet and a check that would buy dinner for eight at your local neighborhood pizzeria.

Come to think of it, you’d be much better off at Joe’s Pizza Joint, where they have never heard of mustard sorbet, and the most complicated item on the menu is a green salad. Served flat. On a plate. With the dressing over it. They way God meant it to be.

MR. MACK AND HIS LINCOLN ZEPHYR

MR. MACK AND HIS LINCOLN ZEPHYR

One of my chores during my fourth and fifth years (1935 and 1936) was watching for Mr. Mack. Mr. Mack was our rural mail carrier and he arrived like clockwork at 10:05 every morning unless it had been raining real heavily and the dirt roads were difficult to pass.

I would sit on the porch of our farmhouse and watch the intersection about 100 yards away. Rocky Ford Road and Baker Road intersected in the middle of our farm and Mr. Mack traveled along Baker Road. Our house sat in the Northwest corner and between the house and the road was Mama’s rose garden. The mailbox was at the corner of the rose garden.

Back then Mama bought her penny post cards from Mr. Mack. She would give me the pennies to put in the jar lid inside the mailbox. Mr. Mack knew those pennies were for postcards unless there was a letter in there. If that case he deducted 3 cents for the letter and left the remainder in penny postcards. Ah, the simple life.

One morning I was impatiently waiting for Mr. Mack when I saw a mysterious car stop at our mailbox. It was the biggest and most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. Mr. Mack had bought a new LINCOLN ZEPHYR. I didn’t know it was one of the first ever built until I researched this column and learned that Ford had in fact introduced the LINCOLN ZEPHYR IN 1936.

What got me thinking about this in the first place was a recent Ford ad re-introducing the Lincoln Zephyr. It will never be as beautiful as that first one Mr. Mack drove up to our mailbox that morning in 1936.

A few months later I started school (two months prior to my 6th birthday) and one of the things I missed most was waiting for Mr. Mack but it was time to move on in the world. In the next few years I got to know more about that Lincoln Zephyr. Mr. Mack lived near our school and we kids got a look under the hood one day when Mr. Mack was tinkering with the engine. That V-12 monster still occupies a keen spot in my memory.

In those days a rural mail carrier’s job was much like getting appointed to the Supreme Court. It was for life and it paid well. A mail carrier’s job was one of the most cherished in any small town. Congressmen usually did the appointing and the recipients lived well thereafter. They ranked right up with the shop owners and even some bankers in small towns.

The time finally came for Mr. Mack to retire and our congressman (E. E. Cox (D GA)) wanted no part in alienating half the people on that route so he called a special election for Mr. Mack’s replacement. Two young local men tested and qualified for the job. One (Carnelle Barkley) was the son of a former member of the county draft board during THE WAR and the other (Jarvis Murphy) had lost his father when he was about five. Barkley had successfully dodged the draft due to his father’s influence while Murphy had enlisted in the Army Air Corps and finished training as a bombardier on a B-17.

His training finished, he was shipped off to England and on his very first mission, his plane was shot down by the Germans. He was captured by German farmers with pitchforks, imprisoned, freed by the advancing Russians, turned over to the Americans and returned home all within six months. I remember him telling about when he jumped from that falling B-17. That was the first time he had ever thought of jumping but he remembered being told to count to ten and pull the parachute ripcord. His description of his fear when that cord came all the way out into his hand was priceless … but it worked.

I’m sure you can guess who won that election to succeed Mr. Mack. Murphy was the rural mail carrier until he retired and I think he earned the right. Barkley eventually moved away to start anew somewhere else. I never believed he really wanted his father to protect him to the point of branding him a coward in the eyes of the community but it happened.

Oh yeah, the only name I ever knew other than Mr. Mack was his last name, McKibben. Everyone called him Mr. Mack.

Tampa Tribune Says, Dear Hillary, Don’t Run

February 27, 2006

That’s right! Even the left leaning Tampa Tribune editorial gives all the reasons Hillary shouldn’t run for President in 2008. Hillary just recently visited the west central Florida city on a mission of fund raising and Bush bashing. She might have come to the run place to do her incessant Bush bash barrage. Not all Democrats care to listen to that crap all the time and some have even gotten to the point they want leadership and some ideas – something new for the party on the left.

I would have thought the former President first lady would have learned from ALGORE’s trials and tribulations in Florida in 2000, that Floridians are very moderate and could go either way.
The editorial jumps right in, as will I.

If you run for president, chances are good that you’ll secure your party’s nomination. But realistically, how do you think you can win the White House? You are the most polarizing figure in the Democratic Party, and your negatives among likely voters are prohibitively high. Many people simply don’t trust you. You may share your husband’s name, but what people liked about him is not transferable to you.

You are not the person to help define a party that needs to convince voters it can govern from the vital center.

Ooohh! Ouch! Those comments are sure to make her want to run even more. Maybe this editorial is a reverse psychiatric ploy of some kind.

Fair or not, you are identified with the far left, and you are not the person to convince voters that Democrats have ideas for keeping families safe and the country secure.

You are not the one who can assure Americans they will have a chance to get ahead.

You may be a champion for women’s rights and a strong advocate for children, but you are too much the Washington insider to convince voters you would fix a political system that seems remote from everyday life.

And then the writer seems to be her husband Bill. How else could anyone know Hillary as well as this and not be her husband.

Although you apparently work well with your Senate colleagues, your candidacy would remind voters that you are not a consensus builder. Your health care plan failed during your husband’s first term because you were largely tone-deaf. You shut people out, and when things went awry, you blamed the media.

Maybe I took some things out of context…….err, uhhh, no actually I was kind of nice here. You should absolutely go read the entire editorial yourself. Unfortunately for Hillary, “I don’t even know what White Water is” Clinton, it tells it like it is.

*Related Rumors* Is it truth of fiction? Rumor has it that Bill Clinton is looking for interns to work for him. The ad says, “Hands on Experience“.

The War on Terror Making For Strange Bedfellows

February 27, 2006

As I said in a previous post, it appears that the Bush administration is sitting on or perhaps to be more precise, prohibiting any new information about Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction from reaching the public. I also asked many questions, the biggest being why?

It now is appearing more and more that Bush feels that whatever help he thinks he can get out of France, Russia and China, is more important than proving to the world that Saddam did have his weapons and where they are now.

Those who are certain the weapons got moved to Syria by Russia, are being squelched and in some cases being referred to as lunatics. From the research that has taken place since the invasion of Iraq, the U.S. has learned many things and many of those things point embarassing fingers at France, Russia and China for their participation in helping Saddam create those weapons of mass destruction. Local Television Station Scared to Death to Report the News

February 24, 2006

Last night as I watched the 10:00 p.m. news on the local Fox affiliate in Tampa, Florida, WTVT, I was appalled. A story has surfaced in St. Petersburg about a local lawyer named Thomas Wadley, who happens to be a firm believer in free speech.

In protest as to how the American media has chosen to suppress the news and self- censor what can be allowed to be printed, Wadley hung banners across the front of his home. The banners were a Danish flag along with enlargements of some of the cartoons that have cause death and destruction across the globe by intolerant murderers in the name of their Islamic religion.

Surprisingly, in the online version of the St. Petersburg Times, there is a photo of Tom Wadley standing in front of his house. Behind him is the Danish flag. I am surprised because I would almost assume that the association would raise fears in the paper’s editors of Islamic reprisals. This is what it has come to. These same intolerant morons are burning, pillaging and murdering anyone or anything that even makes reference to the cartoons.

Their terrorism is working because as we cower in the corners and remain hypocritical in our beliefs of free speech, these terrorists are exploiting the situation. Once they realize they have the upper hand, it soon gets out of control.

On the news broadcast last night, the reporter went to the Wadley house to do the story. First off, the video that was shot was a joke. Any time there was any part of Wadley’s banners or pictures visible in the video, they were covered over in censorship. Secondly, you could tell the reporter was petrified to speak out of fear she might say something offensive.

Wadley says it is time to stand up for what this country stands for and that is freedom. To hide behind respect for another’s religion is crap. It’s simply an excuse for the terror that has come over our media. I for one am shocked that it has come to this. The terrorists have to be dancing in the streets and much of the increases in uprisings are a result of the scare tactics working.

I take my hat off to people like Tom Watley. It is obvious he has no disrespect outwardly toward the religion of Islam but he does value his free speech.

Of course the television station had to run to the local chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. A spokesperson there just kept repeating the same old mantra – “This is inciteful and disrespectful of our religion. He is only doing this to incite anger in the local Islamic community.”

Talk about intolerance! Where do these people get off. As Wadley said last night, when people disrespectfully portray Jesus or any other Christian icon, Christians don’t rise up and go burn down houses and murder people.

The terrorists have found a foothold. They now know our media are cowards and are that because they have instilled fear in them by threatening and showing they will kill for no real reason at all.

Who Are We Willing To Hop Into Bed With?

February 23, 2006

The debate rages. Where do you stand on the issue of turning over management of 6 ports to a United Arab Emirates company? Let’s clear one thing up right now. People need to understand that it won’t remain simply 6 ports in the U.S. Already negotiations are underway for the same company to take over management of Tampa, Florida’s ports.

Let’s see what we do know or are at least being told. We are being told that the port authorities of each of the cites will retain ownership of the ports and that Homeland Security will continue to provide the security for the same ports – for whatever that is worth and this is part of my problem. The company, Dubai Ports World, will become the managers of operations at these ports. DPW is owned by the government of U.A.E. Read more

Are We Hiring The Fox To Tend The Chicken Coop?

February 22, 2006

Seems that way BUT, I am still in the process of sorting out fact from fiction and letting the dust settle a bit before I jump in. Intially I was dead set against it but I have read and listened to several debates for both sides.

There are definately some issues I hadn’t thought of but until I can back up those thoughts with facts, I’m hanging low.

Is The Bush Administration Deliberately Suppressing Evidence About WMDs?

February 20, 2006

This is a question I began asking myself a couple days ago, about the time the translated videos of Saddam Hussein discussing his WMDs and nuclear weapons programs, began surfacing. These same tapes revealed that Saddam knew there was going to be an attack by terrorists on U.S. soil. What is not revealing and what I can’t understand, is why there are still 35,000 boxes of the same untranslated information that is being sat on and are not being translated.

I have never believed that the whole world was wrong when it came to Saddam’s WMDs. I said at least one year prior to the U.S. invasion of Iraq, that Saddam would be moving his weapons out of the country.

So why did all of a sudden one day, President Bush declare there were never any weapons of mass destruction, that the intelligence was flawed? Is he covering something up or is he being told wrong information – again? Why are the 35,000 boxes of documents and videos not being translated? Why is the U.S. intelligence community debunking the intelligence they are receiving from their own people in the field?

These are all good questions. I wish I had answers. Do you remember when the media began running with the story that the U.S. military failed to secure tons of Saddam’s weapons that were being held in some random bunker? Seems this story was false and our own intelligence knew it and may have even been responsible for starting the story. If this is true, why?

People sent to Iraq after the invasion, to collect as much information from the masses of Saddam’s files, are being ignored. Bill Tierney, the guy hired by the U.S. to translate these files is livid that our intelligence people are paying no attention to the stuff he is giving them. Why? And why aren’t they releasing the rest of the documents?

Maybe there is one explanation. Former Undersecretary of Defense John A. Shaw told those gathered Saturday at the “Intelligence Summit” in Alexandria, Virginia that he has documented to our intelligence community that Russia moved the WMDs into Syria and Lebanon prior to the U.S. invasion. In this story by Newsmax, he lays out all the details of how it transpired and when. Shaw explains many unanswered questions yet the Bush administration seems to be turning a blind eye to all of it, even going so far as to tell the media that Shaw is a mental case.

So let’s suppose that when President Bush went to Russia and visited with Vladmir Putin and looked him in the eye and saw his soul, did he see something else? Did he see or need something from Russia so badly that he was willing to overlook all the intelligence we had gathered showing their involvement? If so why and what? Could it be Iran? Does Putin have something on Bush? Do you remember who the two loudest objectors to the U.S. invasion of Iraq was? – Russia and France.

Shaw data shows where all the materials and weapons came from for Saddam to build his WMDs. The vast majority of them came from Russia. China and France rounded out the top three but Russian material provisions far surpassed those of either China or France.

So what’s the deal? Why aren’t the other tapes and documents being reported? Why is the intelligence community down playing this information? The intelligence gathered shows all of these weapons existed as did a certain amount of nuclear weapons developement, yet none of the same data shows that it was destroyed. On the contrary. Evidence of the videos shows that the Iraqis were proud of the fact they had been able to hide everything from the weapons inspectors.

If the WMDs were never destroyed and there is existing materials used toward the creation of nuclear weapons, it is very likely this stuff is readily available to terrorists.

Is Bush protecting Putin in order to get something more valuable from them, kind of like a softcore blackmail scheme? Is he hoping Russia can calm down the Iranians and get them to abandon their goals of nuclear weapons, that they have made very clear they intend to use?

Whatever it is, it smells like a dead, rotten rat to me. There are lunatics running all over the world bent on the destruction of Israel and the United States. This is not the time to be playing games with countries that have and still are aiding and abetting the enemy. What happened to Bush’s speech when he stated, “You are either with us or against us”?

The Bush administration needs to aggressively seek to find answers to where these weapons are and reveal to the rest of the world that the intelligence that nearly every respected country had, was in fact, accurate. If that means exposing Russia, France, Syria and Lebanon or any other country who participated in illegal actions with Iraq, then so be it. Let’s end the playing games now.

Win a Dream Date with Saddam Hussein

February 20, 2006

He’s a poet! He’s a romance novelist! He’s got wealth in the form of 32 palaces (some slightly the worse for wear). He’s got power in the form of WMD’s (cleverly tucked away in oh, say Syria, or maybe West Hollywood). He’s got worldwide admiration in the form of slavering sycophants everywhere the left flourishes (“He was a secularist. And he educated women!”).

“Wow!” some of you are undoubtedly saying. “This sounds too good to be true! How do I get to meet this dreamy guy?”

Well, kids, hold on to your hats (not to mention vital organs). We here at the Institute of Nuance are about to make those dreams come true. We are running a contest, and the winner could be you!

“My gosh!” some of you are undoubtedly saying, “What do I get if I win?”

Here is what the lucky winner will receive:

On an unspecified date, you will be blindfolded and whisked away by masked, heavily armed thugs who will lead you (tied on the back of a camel) to an undisclosed location somewhere in the Middle East. There you will be un-blindfolded, clapped into irons, and subjected to a brief and perfunctory bout of questioning (which may or may not include gassing and/or intersecting with heavy factory equipment).

“Gee!” some of you are undoubtedly saying. “What next?”

Well, at no extra charge, your interrogation may be filmed for later unspecified useage, by Saddam’s hidden cameras! And then, provided you are still standing upright, or even if you are not, the actual meeting will take place.

Imagine you and your dream date, exchanging soulful and intimate glances, separated only by a cage of iron bars and a coterie of lawyers, some of whom are already earmarked for death! Saddam may even take it into his head to compose a poem in your honor! (Be sure to bring along a bag of chips).

And then, if you are truly one of the blessed (or perhaps only an innocent businessman), you will again be blindfolded, whisked off by more armed thugs to another undisclosed location somewhere in the Middle East, where your hands will be severed (again, at absolutely no extra charge to you)!

But wait! There’s still more. Have we mentioned that your Dream Date is also a world-remowned magician, capable of making entire ethnic populations disappear?

“Boy!” some of you are undoubtedly saying, “What do I have to do to win?”

It’s simple. All that you, the lucky contestant, have to do is this: write a two-page essay on why you want a Dream Date With Saddam Hussein. What is it you love about him? His fame? His wealth? The fact that he always got 100 percent voter turnout? His lovable hi-jinks with the Kurds? His ticks and fleas? Whaever it is, write it up and send it to us care of the Institute, where our fair and impartial panel of judges (some of whom may already have lost their heads) will sit anonymously in an unspecified back room of a four-star restaurant and grade the entries based on originality and amount of vodka consumed.

Who knows—if your entry is judged good enough, you may even get swept away to a secret Rape Room (at absolutely no extra charge to you)!

So write and mail your entry, and be prepared for that one AM knock on your door.

“Holy *&%$!” some of you are undoubtedly saying. “What’s the catch?”

Only one—winner must provide own gas mask and full body armor.

The Media Spins and Twists and Does Its Thing

February 17, 2006

Last night as I sat quietly on the couch attempting to read a book, Hannity and Colmes, the Fox News program that airs at 9 p.m. came on. I actually paid little attention to it until Bill Tierney came on. For those who don’t know, Bill Tierney was the guy hired to translate the masses of recovered videos and documents found during the war in Iraq.

On Wednesday, ABC aired portions of the tapes that have been released. This was done on their late night program, Nightline. I did not stay up and watch the program, but the following day, I read all about it viewed clips of what was presented as any “significant” materials viewers might be interested in.

Back to Hannity and Colmes. The discussion was quite mundane and predictable until Alan Colmes entered the conversations and begin refuting the videos as old and insignificant. It was then that Bill Tierney began to lose his cool a little bit and became quite animated. It was obvious to me that he felt that ABC and others had taken his work of translating and dumbed it down to fit the wagging dog’s tail.

Unfortunately, time ran out and Tierney and Colmes were left without resolve but Hannity promised to bring Tierney back on next week after Washington gets a better look at these videos. Tierney promised that after Saturday, a lot will be revealed to the masses. The complete translations are set to be released this weekend by The Intelligence Group in Washington, D.C. As a footnote – there are still approximately 35,000 boxes of untranslated videos and documents confiscated from Saddams offices and palaces sitting somewhere collecting dust.
Tierney said there are exact translations in the videos that point directly to the fact that Saddam was working with Al Qaeda and knew about the 9/11 attacks before hand. He says also that the videos prove that Saddam hid his weapons of mass destruction from inspectors. Here is a quote from Saddam Hussein, taken from the translation of one of the videos that ABC decided was insignificant.

“Terrorism is coming . . . . In the future there will be terrorism with weapons of mass destruction. What if we consider this technique, with smuggling?”

This recording was done prior too September 11, 2001. Saddam says in the videos that he knows the U.S is going to be attacked and it was going to be on Washington, D.C. but that Iraq would not be involved in it.

If he knew that then he is either clairvoyent or those that were planning the attack told him.

Racism’s Double Standard

February 17, 2006

Yesterday, Bryant Gumble made a statement that essentially said that the Winter Olympics was so white, it was like going to a GOP convention. Let’s say for a moment that Bill Walton, while commentating an NBA game made a comment that said, going to a basketball game was like visiting the chocolate factory or something to that affect. Would he now have a job? Would he have already been crucified?

That deals with the double standard issue. Let’s examine the lies in his racist statement. First of all, the Republican Party is open to all those who wish to join. In the modern era, the Republican party has done more to promote the welfare of black Americans that any other party in American history.

The real issue here is exemplified in Gumble’s statement and what epitomizes some of the difficulties of black society. He is still stuck on stupid as the saying goes. Isn’t it time to put history behind us and move on? Take full advantage of the opportunities as thousands of blacks, whites, and hispanics have done.

And what about the Winter Olympics. I didn’t realize that blacks were banned from participating. Juan Williams, of PBS fame, on Fox News last night said that the reason blacks weren’t participating in winter sports was because it was a rich man’s sport. So what if it is. His racist point of view is that no black people have in money and it’s because of the white man that he doesn’t.

I have been deeply involved in winter sports since the day I was born and I can tell you that is a correct statement by Juan Williams but he is not telling the truth about the entire picture. I could say the same thing about basketball and football or baseball. It is no secret that it is next to impossible to play professional sports unless you attend a division I college. These colleges are expensive to attend and therefore, these are sports for the rich man.

Like with college sports, most of these athletes attend college via scholarship for athletics. So too, are the opportunities available to financially assist those who want to participate in winter sports. There was a day when an athlete competing in the Winter Olympics paid his or her own way – no more. Few do!

Let’s look beyond the United States. According to Gumble’s reasoning, every nation on earth is racist toward blacks. There are predominately black nations scattered all across the globe. Is the reason they don’t send black athletes to the winter Olympics because of the white man? Do you think it has anything at all to do with climate and where people CHOOSE to live? Just a little?

In all sincerity, this is an outrage! The media isn’t even reporting this story. Why? It is a blantant racist statement, period and it is based completely on lies. The black population in this country should be outraged as well. It is people like Gumble and statements he and others make, that are detrimental to the welfare of their race.
