Stanford U Introduces Course on Abolishing White Culture

Stanford University, one of the most prestigious institutes of higher learning in the entire world, has recently introduced a course that wages war on being “white”. The course, titled “White Identity Politics”, will commence this fall and is set to be taught by instructor John Patrick Moran.

As if the course title isn’t suspect enough, fellow Stanford professor Tomás Jiménez went on to elaborate about the course with quotes such as, “Students will consider the perils and possibilities of different political practices, including abolishing whiteness or coming to terms with white identity. What is the future of whiteness?”

While professor Jiménez wrestles with the future of whiteness and how to best go about abolishing it, most of us are left to wonder what “whiteness” is in the first place. According to the University of Calgary, which dedicated a full page on their website defining what whiteness is, “when people refer to ‘white people’ (either in self-identifying, or identifying individuals/groups), it is in fact being used as a shorthand reference to ‘whiteness’.

In other words, it is being used as a shorthand for the privileges/power that people who appear ‘white’ receive, because they are not subjected to the racism faced by people of colour and Indigenous people.”

Calgary goes on to explain in no uncertain terms that whiteness – people identifying as being white – is the root from which all racism and bigotry stems. Put another way, it’s okay to be white, as long as you in no way identify as being so or behave in any way associated with being white.

If that’s not baffling enough, consider the fact that Harvard scholar Noel Ignatiev argued that, “whiteness is a form of racial oppression,” and that “there can be no white race without the phenomenon of white supremacists.”

So what is their solution to the problems they claim the white race represents? It’s simple: get rid of it. Stanford’s own course catalog points out that one of the primary studies in the course “White Identity Politics” will be the concept of “abolishing whiteness”.

Granted, none of these people or universities seem to be advocating for the literal eradication of the white race (things haven’t gotten quite that bad). Instead, they propose a simple re-education of all white people to stop identifying as being white, and stop adopting the behaviors and outlooks associated with the white race.

Of course, it’s anybody’s guess what behaviors and outlooks those might be given the fact that no one set of behaviors and outlooks defines any race, white included. As to how a white person committed to abolishing whiteness is supposed to identify instead is another question we’ll leave to the great minds of Harvard and Stanford.

To be clear, racism is no doubt still a problem in our world today. The past of our nation and the world at large has been ugly at times, and though we’ve come a long way, there are still unfortunate incidents where people are judged because of the color of their skin. However, the cause of racism is racists. It’s not “whiteness” or any other definition that those teaching at Stanford want to use to gloss over the fact that they are blaming an entire group of people for the actions of a few solely because of the color of their skin.

In advocating for the re-education and elimination of an entire race, those at Stanford and elsewhere are sadly fueling the very racism they claim to fight, and doing nothing but deepening the divide between Americans of different races.

Meanwhile, while students in China, South Korea, and other nations that the US must compete with are learning physics, engineering, chemistry, and other fields that they will use to advance their nation and the human race at large. Students at some of America’s top universities will spend an entire semester seriously discussing the merits of abolishing white culture. Without a major upheaval of the twilight-zone level liberalism that has infected campuses across America, realities such as this are only going to get worse.
