The investigation into Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration’s involvement in the Uranium One scandal took a shocking turn this past week as one FBI informant provided three different written testimonies to Congress accusing the Obama administration of making deals designed to benefit Clinton and help Russia gain advantages over the United States.
The informant, Douglas Campbell, said in his testimony, “I was frustrated watching the U.S. government make numerous decisions benefiting Rosatom and Tenex while those entities were engaged in serious criminal conduct on U.S. soil. Tenex and Rosatom were raking in billions of U.S. dollars by signing contracts with American nuclear utility clients at the same time they were indulging in extortion by using threats to get bribes and kickbacks, with a portion going to Russia for high ranking officials.”
Meanwhile, in exchange for the Obama administration’s help pushing through these deals, Russia reportedly sent millions of dollars to the U.S. with the expectation that it would be used to benefit Hillary Clinton and her upcoming Presidential campaign.
Ever since Campbell began blowing the whistle on this scandal, Democrats have fought to discredit him and his work. However, they are finding it hard to cast doubt on Campbell’s shocking findings given that the FBI itself deemed his work valuable enough to reward Campbell with a $50,000 check in 2016.
In spite of the FBI deeming his work valuable, Campbell reports that the Obama administration tried hard to silence him in the run-up to the 2016 election, as they didn’t want his findings to hurt Clinton’s chances of being elected. Now that Campbell is finally in a position to testify to Congress, his testimony has shined a spotlight on one concerning detail after another, showing that the Obama administration was willing to cast a blind eye to criminal wrongdoings so long as Russia kept the money flowing in.
Campbell’s testimony alleges that Moscow made the decision to hire the American lobbying firm, APCO Worldwide, because of the firm’s unique position to leverage the Obama administration, particularly then-Secretary-of-State Hillary Clinton. Campbell also says that in spite of more-than-sufficient evidence that the Russian company Rosatom was deeply involved in criminal conduct, the Uranium One deal with them was still pushed through by the Obama administration. This evidence of criminal conduct is something that President Obama himself would have been well aware of, as Campbell said the FBI told him that his work was “briefed to President Obama as part of his daily presidential briefing.”
“I remember one response I got from an agent when I asked how it was possible CFIUS would approve the Uranium One sale when the FBI could prove Rosatom was engaged in criminal conduct,” Cambell said, “His answer: ‘Ask your politics.'”
In his testimony, Campbell said that he provided documentation of crimes and corruption taking place in Russia to the Obama administration months before the administration went on to make a series of decisions that directly benefited the Russian government. He also said that he was able to provide evidence that Russia was aiding Iran in their development of nuclear capabilities months before Obama’s Iran deal.
However, in both cases, nothing was done. Campbell said that the FBI told him that politics and helping the Obama administration was a more important cause than seeking justice against the Russian officials and companies that were engaging in criminal conduct on US soil.
For a President that Democrats have praised as being “scandal-free”, this is a shocking look at just how far Obama was willing to go to benefit Hillary Clinton’s Presidential campaign. Now that Campbell is providing evidence of these wrongdoings to Congressional investigators, it’s yet to be seen what action – if any – will be taken against Clinton, Obama, and other key members of the Obama administration. What we do know for sure is that Obama’s legacy as a “scandal free” President ended the second that Douglas Campbell submitted his shocking testimony.
